SMPTE awards M2A Media co-founder Marina Kalkanis the 2024 Presidential Proclamation

London, 08 October 2024:  M2A Media is delighted to announce that its co-founder, Marina Kalkanis has been awarded the 2024 Presidential Proclamation by SMPTE, in recognition of her accomplishments in establishing sustainable media in the cloud architecture and live media in the cloud procedures and distribution solutions.

This award was established in 1982 and recognizes individuals of established and outstanding status and reputation in the motion picture and television industries worldwide. 

Marina established M2A Media in 2016 with co-founder and current CTO Marcus Box to help broadcasters and content publishers transition their video workflows to public cloud.

Innovators in live video, M2A Media enables its customers, such as ITV, Channel 4, DAZN and ATP Media to quickly and easily harness the flexible, scalable benefits of the cloud for live video via its smart orchestration tools and state-of-the-art streamhub.

Prior to M2A, Marina was the BBC’s Director of Platform & Common Services, where she built the online video platform for iPlayer, expanded it for the 2012 Olympics, and led the team that migrated the BBC’s tape-based linear playout workflow to file-based IP delivery, running in the AWS cloud.

Marina also held the position of SMPTE Governor, UK Region for the 2021-2022 term.
