M2A Media awarded five leaves out of five in the DPP Committed To Sustainability programme

London, 20 October 2022:  M2A Media, leading innovators in cloud-based live video solutions, today announced their participation in the DPP Committed to Sustainability Programme, scoring five leaves out of five.

Realising the need to take progressive action amid growing concerns about climate change and the impact of video streaming technology on carbon emissions, M2A Media chose to formalise its sustainability initiatives through the DPP Committed to Sustainability programme.

In recent years, M2A Media has carried out research and development into the optimisation of cloud workflows and has been involved in industry-wide sustainability-focused trials, such as the IBC Accelerator Sustainability in a Live Production proof of concept, which explored the most sustainable approach possible that can be introduced to a live TV production.  M2A Media also voluntarily discloses its environmental information to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), to help its customers understand the impact of their own supply chain.

M2A Media’s Sustainability Steering Committee, comprising representatives from business operations, product development, finance and communications, was responsible for the DPP Committed to Sustainability submission.  The committee is tasked with tracking, recording and reporting on the company’s carbon impact across all functions, so as to provide a benchmark for continuous improvement and to ensure corporate actions meet the company’s sustainability targets, as set out in M2A Media’s Environmental Policy.

The DPP Committed to Sustainability programme is an industry leading scheme celebrating and promoting good practice in environmental sustainability, across the media industry.  The programme provides a practical tool to assess an organisation’s progress against key environmental measures, and a common framework for procurement teams to assess the environmental impact of their suppliers. In 2020, the DPP revealed that the average score for participants in its Committed to Sustainability programme was two leaves out of five.

Matt Hughes, Chief Commercial Officer, M2A Media, said: “We need to come together as an industry to fight climate change and must act now.  We’re grateful to the DPP for establishing the Committed to Sustainability programme.  It provides an essential framework in which to formalise a company’s sustainability initiatives. We are delighted to have scored well above the industry average on the DPP Committed to Sustainability programme, achieving five leaves out of five.

“As well as now having these important policies and processes in place, it is fantastic to see how committed M2A staff are to making the change that we all know is needed to achieve a more sustainable broadcast technology industry.”

Abdul Hakim, DPP Committed to Sustainability Lead, added, “We’re delighted to welcome M2A Media to our Committed to Sustainability programme. Achieving a five out of five score makes them a true role model for our industry. Congratulations to the team at M2A!”
