M2A LIVE delivers Royal Wedding to the US
M2A Media worked with ITV and the BBC to offer a service to live stream the Royal Wedding to the US on Britbox.
Background
As part of the Britbox collaboration, the choice was made to use the ITV live source for the US audience and distribute the streams over a BBC platform, requiring a solution that would be able to source the ITV streams and encode them to the profiles and format required by the BBC origin and players.
Challenge
The challenge included scheduling a live stream that would be time-shifted so it would be accessible at 10:30am on both US coasts, a VOD asset to be made available immediately after the live stream, a cost effective solution that would slow neatly into the existing Britbox platform, and that was delivered with the broadcast standard of quality expected from the BBC and ITV.
