Profile Composer is a tool to create, manage, store and reconstitute your MediaLive settings.
It is designed to help organisations manage swift and safe configuration changes over time, by reducing complexity and providing an appealing visual language to remove the gap between creators and users.
The starting point for activities is within the AWS console, carefully adding your values for the Channel, Input and Output Group settings. Once complete, this configuration set can be obtained by selecting Download Custom Template in Channel actions.
Profile Composer
Navigate to Profiles within M2A LIVE. If you have not uploaded any Medialive templates, this view will be empty. Profiles that have already been created and fragments already uploaded are shown. You can expand a Profile to see its constituent fragments, and also expand certain fragments types to check specification.
Scroll down to see the full list, and use ‘Filter by fragment type’ when you have built a large library.
Adding new Fragments to the library
You must already have a MediaLive .JSON template ready to add. Select Upload Template and navigate to the .JSON file. The upload will take a few seconds. The constituent parts will be represented to you as Fragments, with descriptive names that reflect the fragment type and some of the content.
Currently, you can rename the fragments at this stage only.
As it is possible to have fragments named the same, and differentiated only by their contents, we advise that you use distinctive readily understandable names for the ease of your user community.
By default, all the Fragments are selected for Import, but you may deselect any that you do not want.
Fragments that are duplicates of another listed for Import, or another already imported will not be imported.
The Fragments now appear in your library list with a new label. Currently, Fragments can only be added individually or in small numbers by uploading a MediaLive Template and selecting the few needed.
Build a Profile
Select Build Profile. Your library is represented on the left, divided in two groups of Profiles and Fragments. You can expand or close these groups.
To the right is your canvas. You can drag a single Profile set, multiple Profile Sets, Fragments, or a mix of all onto the canvas. Dragging one existing Profile onto the canvas will display existing relationships. Adding another Profile will combine relationships as appropriate Dragging Fragments onto the canvas will require you to set the relationships.
Fragments and Profiles on the canvas will be greyed out in your library, and you will be unable to select them again while creating a Profile.
Basic validation rules apply, preventing you from joining incompatible Fragments.
To activate the join tools, hover over a fragment, and then click on the link point to generate a link. Move your new link to the fragment you wish to join and click its link point.
If you change your mind about your creation, you can expand each fragment and select Remove or use Clear All to remove everything from the canvas.
Once you are happy with your creation, save your new Profile with a distinctive name.
We are adding more ways to edit and annotate Profiles and Fragments but currently the options to change a Fragment name and define a Profile name are limited to Import and Creation respectively.
Your new Profile can now be used, and can be referenced by its ID.
