Our Products

M2A Media builds public cloud solutions for managing and publishing video. Our goal is to offer a continuously evolving cloud platform which can meet the needs of the ever-changing media landscape. We combine years of experience in the broadcast and online media industries with best practices in modern software engineering. With our help you can migrate your entire end-to-end media workflow to the public cloud. Or we can devise hybrid solutions which mix your existing media applications with our micro services and comprehensive APIs. We build products for both broadcast and online publishing.

Live Streaming

Live Streaming delivers live TV content to IP platforms with low latency and high resilience.
Live encoder and transcoder management, multiple DRM formats and dynamic packaging are all included.

Live Capture

Live Capture acquires a live programme and makes it available as an on-demand asset for viewing on PCs, tablets and phones as well as TVs.
Leveraging the scalability of the cloud, Live Capture can process several hours of video in minutes.

VOD Workflow

VOD workflow delivers all tasks from acquisition to publication.
All tasks run in AWS Cloud with simple RESTful APIs, messaging, web consoles and guaranteed SLAs. Easy to integrate and exceptional value

Media Asset Manager

Media Asset Manager stores, searches, logs and integrates media content through a RESTful API or web console.
Operators can create custom metadata and collections, view and log proxies, check the status of workflow events and create task lists.

 Our Story

Our Story

M2A Media Ltd was founded in 2015 by a group of senior software engineers with experience working for major players in the British broadcasting industry. We saw the need for flexible and scalable tools which enable broadcasters to manage and publish their media easily and cost-effectively. And we wanted to leverage the opportunities offered by the advent of cloud computing which is revolutionising the technical landscape. We are passionate advocates of the lean and agile 'continuous improvement' approach which has transformed software development on the web and want to see it flourish in the media industry.

Our Team

CEO Marina Kalkanis has extensive experience as a senior technology manager delivering world class online media products. As the BBC's Director of Platform & Common Services, Marina led the team that migrated the BBC’s tape-based linear playout workflow to IP and file running in AWS cloud. This involved installing gateways, fat pipes, a media asset management system and workflows with the necessary business change, in a traditionally conservative sector of the broadcast industry. CTO Marcus Box was previously Head of Engineering in BBC Design & Engineering’s Platform & Common Services Division. Marcus was responsible for designing, building, maintaining and supporting the BBC’s media workflows. These workflows ingest, transcode and deliver all audio and visual content - both live and on-demand - for the BBC's internet platforms and latterly for linear transmission as well. Projects included Media Factory, in which iPlayer’s entire VoD workflow was migrated to the AWS cloud, and FBD in which the BBC’s tape-based linear workflows were migrated to file/IP. COO Aidan Stowe has worked in a variety of roles in the media industry in newspapers, radio, teletext, linear TV, interactive TV and online. Highlights have included the launch of BBC News Online and the Red Button service on BBC Interactive, the BBC’s original HD trial, BBC iPlayer’s Video Factory and the migration of the BBC’s linear TV playout pipeline to an IP-based workflow.
